Event Description

Many of us are realizing the therapeutic benefits of spending time in nature. As we step outside and connect with the more than human world, our emotional, psychological, physical, and spiritual wellness improves. Through these actions we deepen our connection with nature and restore a deeper sense of self. But this relationship is reciprocal, and we have human responsibilities to understand and attend to when it comes to the needs of the Earth.

Ecopsychology examines the disconnection the humans of western civilization have made with the natural world and, as a result, have spurred both our ecological and psychological crises. It calls for us to wake up and restore our intrinsic connections and to act in service for the welfare of all sentient beings.

Join CIIS Transformative Studies Professor and author Jeanine Canty for an experiential workshop exploring ecopsychology and how to show up for the Earth. Participants examine the roots of ecopsychology and work with the emotional responses that surface when engaging with our ecological and psychological crises. In this workshop Jeanine shares ways to develop more ecologically responsible and mature selves and to step into deeper allyship with the Earth. Participants should be prepared to engage in both sitting and moving meditation, enter deep reflection and dialogue, anticipate the surfacing of heavy emotions, and possibly experience joy.

Discover greater resources to hold the chaos of our present times and to step into the creation of an unfolding future that holds all sentient beings at center.
